30-Year-Old PWD Clears APC Screening to Contest Kaduna Reps Seat
Kaduna, Nigeria - 10 May, 2026
A 30-year-old person living with disability (PWD), Buba Muhammad, popularly known as “Abin Al-Ajabin Zazzau,” has successfully passed the screening exercise conducted by the All Progressives Congress to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives representing Kaduna State.
Buba is seeking to fly the party’s ticket for Sabon Gari Federal Constituency in the forthcoming general elections. His clearance at the screening stage places him among aspirants cleared to participate in the party’s internal selection process ahead of primaries.
Buba, who lives with dwarfism — a condition that affects physical growth and body development — has become known in parts of Zaria and its environs for his resilience, public engagement, and interest in community development. Despite his physical condition, he has consistently expressed interest in contributing to governance and legislative representation.
His emergence and successful screening have drawn attention within political circles and among residents, with many describing his aspiration as a symbol of inclusivity and growing political participation among persons living with disabilities in Nigeria.
Supporters say his journey reflects a broader shift toward giving equal opportunities to all citizens, regardless of physical condition, especially within party structures and electoral processes. They argue that his participation could help strengthen advocacy for disability rights and social inclusion if eventually elected.
In Sabon Gari Federal Constituency, reactions have remained mixed but largely positive, with some constituents praising his courage while others say the real test will come during the party primaries and eventual general elections.
Known widely by his nickname “Abin Al-Ajabin Zazzau,” Buba is expected to continue consultations with party stakeholders, community leaders, and delegates as he builds momentum ahead of the primaries. His campaign is also expected to focus on youth empowerment, social inclusion, and community development issues affecting the constituency.
