Dazigau Joins Race for Nangere Constituency Seat, Unveils Legislative Priorities

Yobe, Nigeria, June 30, 2026

Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Dazigau has formally declared his intention to contest for the Nangere Constituency seat in the Yobe State House of Assembly under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ahead of the next state assembly election.

Speaking during his declaration, Dazigau said his decision to seek elective office was driven by what he described as the need for responsive representation and closer engagement between elected officials and constituents.

According to him, the responsibilities of a legislator extend beyond lawmaking to include advocating for the needs of constituents and facilitating development projects that improve living standards.

During the event, he outlined areas he said would form the focus of his legislative agenda if elected. These include education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, women's development, infrastructure, and transparency in public service.

On education, the PDP aspirant said he would support policies aimed at improving learning conditions, expanding access to educational opportunities, and encouraging vocational and digital skills development.

He also identified healthcare as a priority, stating that he would advocate for improved primary healthcare services and better access to essential medical facilities in rural communities.

Recognising agriculture as the main source of livelihood for many residents of Nangere, Dazigau said he would support initiatives designed to improve access to farming inputs, irrigation, extension services, and markets for agricultural produce.

The aspirant further highlighted youth empowerment as an important aspect of his agenda, saying he would promote programmes focused on skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, employment opportunities, and sports development. He also pledged support for policies aimed at increasing opportunities for women through education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.

Addressing supporters, Dazigau called for peaceful political participation throughout the campaign period, urging political actors and their supporters to conduct issue-based campaigns and respect democratic principles.

He also said he would maintain regular engagement with community leaders, traditional institutions, religious leaders, youth groups, women, and other stakeholders if elected, describing public consultation as an important part of effective representation.

Dazigau comes from a family with a history of public service. His father, Alhaji Adamu Dazigau, previously represented Nangere Constituency in the Yobe State House of Assembly.

His declaration adds to the growing political activities ahead of the forthcoming elections, with political parties expected to intensify consultations and preparations as the electoral process progresses.

The election timetable, including dates for party primaries and the general election, will be conducted in accordance with the schedule released by Nigeria's electoral authorities.
