CDCFIB Commences 2026 Promotion Exercise for Senior Officers Across Paramilitary Services

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has officially commenced its first batch of the 2026 promotion examination for senior officers in Nigeria’s paramilitary services.

The exercise covers senior ranks including Deputy Controllers, Comptrollers, Commandants, and Controllers across four major agencies under the Board. These include the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, and the Federal Fire Service.

The Secretary of the Board, Maj.-Gen. Abdulmaleek Jibrin (retd.), while flagging off the exercise at the Army Resource Centre in Abuja, urged participants to maintain discipline and professionalism throughout the process. He explained that the promotion examination is designed to strengthen capacity and improve service delivery across the paramilitary institutions.

According to the Board, the exercise ensures that only qualified and competent officers are elevated to higher ranks, in line with its commitment to transparency, merit, and professionalism.

This development comes after the successful conclusion of the 2025 promotion exercise, where over 24,000 officers were promoted across the services. It also follows delays in the ongoing recruitment process, which was earlier postponed for administrative adjustments after candidates completed their computer-based tests in November 2025.

The CDCFIB reaffirmed its commitment to fairness and efficiency in both promotion and recruitment processes across all its services.
