Troops Bust Suspected Terrorist Supply Network, Arrest Six in Borno

Troops of Sector 1, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have intercepted a suspected terrorist logistics network and arrested six suspects during an intelligence-led operation in Borno State, dealing another major blow to terrorist supply chains in the North East.

The operation, conducted at about 4:00 p.m. on 19 July 2026, involved a coordinated stop-and-search exercise along a route believed to be used for supplying logistics to terrorist groups. Security personnel intercepted five vehicles carrying a large consignment of materials suspected to be destined for terrorist elements.

Items recovered include 202 cartons of herbicides, one jerrycan containing suspected acid, one Starlink satellite internet communication system, six bags of NPK fertilizer, ten bags of rice, 50 hoes, and 20 packs of knapsack sprayer pumps.

Military authorities said preliminary assessments indicate that the recovered items have potential dual-use applications capable of supporting terrorist logistics, communications, mobility, and sustainment. They added that the suspected acid and NPK fertilizer will undergo technical and forensic analysis to determine whether they were intended for the production of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

The six suspects, along with the recovered items, have been handed over to the appropriate Military Intelligence Regiment for further investigation to identify the intended recipients, uncover the wider logistics network, and apprehend other collaborators and sponsors.

Operation HADIN KAI also disclosed that preliminary debriefings of rescued hostages and surrendered families of former terrorists indicate that sustained military operations targeting terrorist logistics have significantly weakened the operational capacity of insurgent groups. According to the military, shortages of food, medical supplies, communication equipment, and other essential materials have forced many terrorists to abandon their camps, leave behind hostages and family members, and flee under sustained military pressure.

The Theatre Command reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling terrorist logistics and support networks through intelligence-driven operations, stressing that efforts will continue to target financiers, logistics suppliers, informants, and collaborators to deny terrorist groups the resources needed to sustain their activities.

The military also urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information on suspicious movements and activities, describing public cooperation as essential to the success of ongoing counter-terrorism operations and the restoration of lasting peace in the North East.
