Zulum Sets Deadlines for Key Infrastructure Projects in Borno

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has reaffirmed his administration's determination to complete all ongoing projects across the state before the expiration of its tenure.

The governor made the pledge on Monday after inspecting several major infrastructure projects within Maiduguri metropolis, including the 4,000-capacity International Conference Centre, the Post Office Flyover, and the dualisation of the 2.5-kilometre Tandari–Neitel Shoe–Tennary Road through the Maiduguri Cattle Market.

Speaking to journalists after the inspection, Zulum expressed satisfaction with the level of progress recorded on the projects, particularly the International Conference Centre and the Post Office Flyover.

He disclosed that the International Conference Centre has been scheduled for completion by September, while the contractor handling the Post Office Flyover has been directed to finish the project within the next 30 to 40 days.

According to the governor, the state government remains committed to delivering projects that directly improve the lives of residents and stimulate socio-economic development.

"So far, we have visited all the sites and I am impressed with the level of work done, especially at the International Conference Centre and the Post Office Flyover," Zulum said.

He added that his administration would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that all ongoing projects are completed before the end of its tenure.

The governor urged contractors to take advantage of the current favourable weather conditions to accelerate construction activities and meet the stipulated deadlines. He also assured them of continued government support through timely funding.

Zulum noted that the people of Borno State have continued to benefit from hundreds of completed projects executed by his administration and pledged to sustain the pace of development across the state.

He, however, warned that any aspect of the projects not completed within the agreed timeframe would be reassigned to the Ministry of Works to ensure timely delivery.

"Any aspect of the work that cannot be completed by the contractor shall be taken over by the Ministry of Works so that we can complete the projects on time," he said.

The governor also assured residents affected by the projects, particularly those around the Post Office Flyover corridor, that the government would honour all legitimate compensation claims.

The inspection tour forms part of the state government's efforts to monitor project implementation and ensure the timely completion of critical infrastructure aimed at enhancing economic growth and improving living standards across Borno State.
