Troops Kill Three Terrorists, Recover Weapons in Zamfara Operation

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have recorded another operational breakthrough in the ongoing fight against terrorism in Zamfara State, neutralizing three suspected terrorists and recovering a cache of arms and ammunition during a patrol operation.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Media Information Officer of the operation, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the troops, operating under Sector 2 of the task force, carried out a fighting patrol across Kaura Namoda Local Government Area and Birnin Magaji Local Government Area as part of sustained efforts to deny criminal groups freedom of movement within the state.

The military disclosed that the troops encountered armed terrorists at Doumbourum Village, where a fierce gun battle broke out. The troops reportedly overpowered the attackers with superior firepower, forcing them to flee the scene after suffering casualties.

Following the confrontation, security operatives confirmed that three terrorists were killed, while several weapons and ammunition were recovered from the area.

Items recovered include one AK-47 rifle, one machine gun, one locally fabricated handgun, seven rifle magazines, and 571 rounds of ammunition.

Military authorities said no casualty was recorded among the troops during the operation.

The Joint Task Force described the latest success as a reflection of the commitment and resilience of troops in the ongoing campaign against terrorism and banditry across the North-West.

The military also appealed to residents of the affected communities and the wider public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts aimed at restoring lasting peace and stability in the region.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA has intensified operations in recent months as security forces continue to target armed groups operating in parts of Zamfara and neighbouring states.
