President Tinubu Diverts Ogun Trip to Jos as Part of Multi-State Visit

Abuja, April 1, 2026 – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has postponed his scheduled trip to Iperu, Ogun State, where he was to flag off operations at the Gateway International Cargo Airport. The President’s change of plans comes as he prioritizes a visit to Jos, Plateau State, to commiserate with the government and citizens following recent violent gun attacks that claimed the lives of innocent residents.

The President’s visit to Jos underscores the federal government’s commitment to supporting states in times of crisis and ensuring national security remains a top priority. During his visit, he is expected to meet with state officials, community leaders, and security agencies to assess the situation on the ground and offer condolences to affected families.

From Plateau, President Tinubu will proceed to Lagos to observe Good Friday, part of the Easter celebrations. On Saturday, April 4, he will resume his planned trip to Ogun State to officially commission the Gateway International Cargo Airport, a project designed to enhance the state’s trade capacity and boost economic growth. During the Ogun visit, the President will also inaugurate two commercial aircraft to facilitate cargo export and import, as well as the new edifice of the Federal Operations Unit of the Nigerian Customs Service along with its operational vehicles, marking a milestone in improving customs operations and logistics in the region.

In Lagos, President Tinubu is also set to commission several key infrastructure projects undertaken by the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. These include the iconic Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge, designed to ease traffic flow and connectivity; the Lagos State Geographic Information System Building, aimed at improving urban planning and development; a Multi-Agency Complex named after the President, fostering inter-agency collaboration; and a new school complex, demonstrating the federal and state governments’ commitment to education and community development.

The President’s multi-state visit will conclude in Bayelsa State on April 10, where he will commission selected completed projects under Governor Duoye Diri’s administration, highlighting the federal government’s ongoing support for state-level development initiatives across Nigeria.
