NUJ President Applauds Bala Mohammed Over Multimillion-Naira Bauchi Secretariat Upgrade

The President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Alhassan Yahaya, has commended the Bauchi State Government for undertaking the total renovation and modernization of the NUJ State Council Secretariat in Bauchi.

Speaking during an inspection tour of the ongoing multimillion-naira project, Yahaya described the initiative as a major milestone in efforts to strengthen journalism practice and improve the welfare of media professionals in the state.

According to him, the upgraded secretariat will provide a more conducive working environment for journalists, while also enhancing the operational capacity of the union and supporting its activities across Bauchi State.

The NUJ President praised Governor Bala Mohammed for prioritizing the project, noting that the investment demonstrates the administration's recognition of the critical role the media plays in promoting transparency, accountability, good governance, and sustainable development.

Yahaya said the gesture reflects a strong partnership between government and the media, adding that improved infrastructure for journalists would contribute to more effective and professional reportage in the state.

He assured that members of the union would continue to uphold the ethics of journalism by remaining objective, professional, and committed to providing accurate information to the public on government policies, programmes, and development initiatives.

The ongoing renovation project involves a complete overhaul and modernization of the NUJ State Council Secretariat and is expected to significantly improve service delivery and strengthen the union's operations upon completion.

During his visit to Bauchi, Yahaya and other NUJ officials also attended the wedding fatiha of two daughters of the North-East Zonal Director of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Dahiru Mohammed. The ceremony took place at the Gwallaga Juma’at Mosque and attracted dignitaries, media professionals, family members, and well-wishers from across the region.
