NSCDC Gombe Passes Out 80 Trained Private Guards, Strengthens Private Security Standards
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Gombe State Command has graduated 80 newly trained private security guards drawn from 10 licensed Private Guard Companies operating across Gombe State, reaffirming its commitment to professionalism and improved security standards.
The passing-out ceremony followed a two-week intensive training programme organized by the command at the Federal Secretariat in Gombe, in line with the statutory responsibilities of the Corps under the NSCDC Act 2003 (as amended), which empowers it to regulate, train, and supervise Private Guard Companies nationwide.
Speaking at the Passing Out Parade, the Gombe State Commandant, Jibrin Idris, described the event as more than a ceremonial exercise, stressing that it reflects the Corps’ commitment to building stronger partnerships and enhancing operational standards in the private security sector.
He noted that the training covered key areas such as physical drills, weaponless combat, ethics and code of conduct, intelligence gathering, first aid, fire safety, and protection of critical national assets and infrastructure.
Commandant Idris commended the graduates for their discipline and dedication throughout the training period and urged them to uphold professionalism, integrity, and discipline in the discharge of their duties.
According to him, private security personnel play a critical role in safeguarding lives, property, public institutions, and vital infrastructure, making their contribution essential to the nation’s overall security framework.
The Command also reiterated its resolve to strengthen oversight of private security operations in the state through continuous training, compliance monitoring, and collaboration with licensed operators, while warning against illegal security operations.
The event was attended by departmental heads, unit commanders, representatives of the participating private guard companies, and other invited guests.
