Kwankwaso Seeks Emir of Gombe’s Intervention in ADC Leadership Dispute

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has called on the Sarkin Gombe and family members of Nafiu Bala Gombe to intervene in the ongoing leadership dispute within the party.

Kwankwaso made the appeal amid rising tensions surrounding claims by Nafiu Bala Gombe to the leadership of the ADC, warning that the situation could escalate if not properly managed.

The former Governor of Kano State urged all parties to remain calm, stressing that respected traditional authorities and family elders must guide Nafiu away from actions capable of deepening internal divisions.

According to Kwankwaso, efforts had been made to resolve the dispute through dialogue. He disclosed that he personally invited Nafiu Bala Gombe for a peaceful meeting, which the latter initially agreed to attend but later failed to honor.

“I made sincere efforts to meet with him so we could resolve the issue amicably, but unfortunately, he did not show up,” Kwankwaso said.

He further noted that prior warnings had suggested the meeting might not hold, a development he said ultimately proved true.

Kwankwaso reiterated that his decision to join the ADC remains firm, emphasizing that it was motivated by a commitment to national service and the strengthening of democratic values in Nigeria.

Describing Nafiu Bala Gombe as a young figure in need of guidance, Kwankwaso urged him to reflect on his actions, particularly considering the broader implications of the dispute on Nigerians seeking credible leadership.

In an interview, he also revealed that a review of party records showed that Nafiu had previously resigned from a position and participated in party activities under the leadership of David Mark before his recent change in stance.

Kwankwaso concluded by calling on Nigerians to remain committed to democratic processes by registering for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and actively participating in political engagement.

He stressed that unity, peace, and adherence to democratic principles remain essential, warning that actions capable of inciting division could undermine national stability.
