Gombe Hosts ACReSAL Training, Eyes More Funding

The Gombe State Project Coordinator of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL), Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro, has attributed the successes recorded under the programme to the strong leadership of state governors and the sustained support of development partners, including the World Bank and the Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU).

Dr. Jauro stated this during the closing ceremony of a four-day training for 220 enumerators in Gombe, organized ahead of a third-party assessment to evaluate the impact and performance of ACReSAL projects across participating states.

He noted that the exercise would provide a platform to measure progress and strengthen ongoing interventions, adding that Gombe’s consistent recognition reflects the commitment of the state government under Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

Representing the ACReSAL Task Team Leader at the World Bank, Operations Officer Joseph Abang, who spoke on behalf of Dr. Joy Iganya Agene, said Gombe was selected to host the training due to its impressive performance in project implementation. He described the state as one of the top-performing participants in the programme and commended its hospitality.

Abang further revealed that the trained enumerators, having completed both theoretical and field sessions, would be deployed across benefiting states and the Federal Capital Territory for the assessment. He added that a mid-term review mission is scheduled for next month, with prospects for additional funding from development partners if current progress is sustained.

Also speaking, the National Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Eniola Saeed, who represented the National Coordinator, Abdulhamid Umar, praised the consultants for their professionalism and commended Gombe State for its logistical support throughout the training.
