Gombe Reaffirms Partnership with World Bank on ACReSAL Project

The Gombe State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to sustained collaboration with the World Bank in driving sustainable development through the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project.

The Commissioner for Water, Environment and Forest Resources, Mohammed Sa’idu Fawu, made this known while declaring open a four-day training for enumerators conducting a third-party assessment of the ACReSAL project in Gombe.

He revealed that the state has received a total of $27.51 million under the initiative, impacting over 930,000 beneficiaries and enhancing land management across 64,000 hectares.

The State Project Coordinator, Sani Adamu Jauro, explained that the training aims to evaluate progress, identify challenges, and ensure accurate documentation of the project’s outcomes. He commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for providing the political will that has driven the project’s achievements.

In goodwill messages, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Barnabas Malle, alongside representatives of the World Bank, underscored the importance of professionalism and objectivity in the assessment process.

Also speaking, the representative of the National Project Coordinator, Abdulhamid Umar, represented by Sylvester Uchechukwu, commended Gombe State for its leadership in implementing ACReSAL, expressing optimism that the assessment would attract additional funding support.
