ACReSAL Concludes Three-Day Peacebuilding Training for Stakeholders in Gombe

The Gombe State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes Project (ACReSAL) has successfully concluded a three-day capacity-building training programme for members of Peacebuilding Committees across the state, aimed at strengthening conflict prevention and community resilience.

The training focused on key areas including conflict management, conflict risk mapping, and the enhancement of Early Warning and Early Response mechanisms designed to promote sustainable peace in communities.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, the State Project Coordinator of ACReSAL, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro, described the exercise as a success, attributing the achievement to the active participation of stakeholders and the valuable contributions of resource persons who facilitated the sessions.

Dr. Jauro expressed appreciation to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his continued support towards development programmes and initiatives that improve the welfare of citizens across the state.

He urged members of the Peacebuilding Committees to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the training in their respective communities, emphasizing the importance of proactive conflict prevention, peaceful coexistence, and community engagement.

As part of efforts to enhance communication and ensure timely reporting of emerging conflicts, chairpersons of the committees were presented with Android smartphones to support their peacebuilding and early response activities.

Participants drawn from the 11 local government areas of Gombe State, including traditional and community leaders, women and youth groups, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders, commended ACReSAL for organizing the training. They noted that the knowledge gained would significantly strengthen grassroots peacebuilding efforts and improve resilience against conflicts within their communities.

The training forms part of ACReSAL's broader commitment to promoting social cohesion, environmental sustainability, and inclusive development across Gombe State.
