APC North-East Congress Holds in Gombe, Produces New Zonal Leadership by Consensus

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has successfully conducted its North-East Zonal Congress in Gombe, ushering in a new set of zonal leaders through a consensus-driven process widely described as peaceful and orderly.

The high-profile gathering brought together key political figures, including governors and party stalwarts from across the North-East geopolitical zone. Among them was Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, who hosted the event and joined other leaders in reaffirming the party’s strength in the region.

At the congress, delegates unanimously adopted consensus candidates to steer the affairs of the party in the zone for the next four years. The decision, endorsed through motions by top party leaders, was seen as a demonstration of internal cohesion and political maturity within the APC.

Presiding over the exercise, Congress Committee Chairman, Simon Ngwan, confirmed that the consensus approach had been agreed upon by stakeholders across the region, ensuring a smooth and conflict-free process.

In his welcome address, Mai Mala Buni, who also serves as the APC North-East Zonal Coordinator, described the region as a critical pillar of the party’s national structure. He noted that the North-East boasts five APC governors and remains a dominant force in Nigeria’s political landscape.

Buni highlighted the party’s growing influence, pointing to increasing defections into the APC as evidence of its national appeal. He urged party members to remain united and leverage their numerical strength to secure victory in the 2027 general elections, particularly for Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Delivering a vote of thanks, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri commended delegates for their discipline and the peaceful conduct of the congress. He called on party members to remain committed to the APC’s vision and continue working together to strengthen its position at both state and national levels.

Similarly, outgoing North-East National Vice Chairman, Mustapha Salihu, expressed gratitude to party leaders and members for their support during his tenure, pledging continued loyalty to the party.

Inuwa Yahaya Congratulates New Leaders

Reacting after the congress, Governor Inuwa Yahaya congratulated the newly elected officials, urging them to prioritize unity, inclusiveness, and strategic collaboration in strengthening the party’s structures.

He gave special recognition to Nitte Amangal and Lumbi Abubakar, expressing confidence in their ability to excel in their new roles.

The governor emphasized that sustained unity within the party would be key to consolidating its achievements and delivering on the “Renewed Hope” agenda of President Tinubu.
