Aminu Waziri Tambuwal Dumps Peoples Democratic Party, Joins African Democratic Congress

Former Governor of Sokoto State and serving senator representing Sokoto South Senatorial District, , has officially resigned from the (PDP) and joined the (ADC).

 Tambuwal announced his resignation in a letter dated March 11 and addressed to the PDP ward chairman of Tambuwal/Shinfiri Ward in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

 In the letter, the former governor cited the persistent internal crisis and ongoing conflicts within the PDP as the main reason for his decision to leave the party.

 According to him, the continuous disagreements and instability in the party have made it increasingly difficult for members to pursue the party’s political objectives effectively.

 Tambuwal, who currently represents Sokoto South in the Senate, expressed appreciation to the party leadership and members at the ward, local government, state, and national levels for their support during his time in the PDP.

 The veteran politician, however, noted that after wide consultations with his political associates and supporters, he decided to move to the ADC in order to continue his political journey on a platform he believes will better serve his aspirations and the interests of his constituents.

 Tambuwal is a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, having previously served as Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2011 to 2015 before becoming governor of Sokoto State from 2015 to 2023 under the PDP.

 His defection is expected to have significant political implications in Sokoto State and the broader political landscape ahead of future elections, as stakeholders closely monitor how the move may influence alignments within the state and the North-West region.

 Political observers say the development highlights the ongoing realignments within Nigeria’s political parties as politicians reposition themselves ahead of upcoming political contests.
