VHF Moves to Save 1,253 Gombe State University Students from Examination Exclusion Over Unpaid Fees

Gombe, Nigeria – The Velocity Humanitarian Foundation (VHF) has announced an emergency educational intervention to support 1,253 students of Gombe State University who were at risk of being barred from participating fully in their examinations due to outstanding tuition fees.

In a statement signed by the Foundation's representative, Engr. Aliyu Mohammed, VHF disclosed that discussions with the university management revealed that a total of ₦48 million is required to settle the affected students' fees for the current semester and secure their continued academic progression.

According to the Foundation, arrangements have already commenced to facilitate the intervention. VHF also appealed to the university authorities to allow the affected students to continue writing their examinations while the process of regularising their fees is being completed.

The Foundation expressed concern over the plight of the students, noting that hundreds of young people faced the possibility of losing an academic session because of financial challenges.

"At a time when education should remain a top priority, it is unfortunate that many students are confronted with barriers that threaten their academic future," the statement said.

VHF stressed that education remains a critical driver of sustainable development, social advancement, and economic growth, adding that societies can only achieve their full potential when access to learning is protected and strengthened.

The Foundation further stated that genuine leadership is measured by its commitment to the welfare and future of its citizens, emphasizing that investment in education is both a social responsibility and a strategic necessity for national development.

Reaffirming its dedication to youth empowerment, VHF pledged to continue supporting initiatives that expand access to education and create opportunities for young people to achieve their aspirations.

The intervention is expected to provide relief for the affected students and ensure that financial difficulties do not disrupt their academic journey.
