US Eases Visa Bond Requirement for Some 2026 World Cup Fans

The United States government has announced a relaxation of its proposed visa bond policy for certain travelers attending the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Under one of the immigration measures introduced by President Donald Trump, visitors from about 50 countries were expected to pay a refundable visa bond ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 before entering the country.

However, the US State Department has now clarified that the bond requirement will not apply to World Cup players, team officials, and fans from participating countries who already possess match tickets and use FIFA’s priority visa processing system.

The exemption is expected to benefit supporters from several African nations that qualified for the tournament and were initially affected by the policy. The countries include Algeria, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Tunisia.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by United States, Canada and Mexico, marking the first time three nations will co-host the tournament.
