FAA Employee Charged Over Alleged Threat to Kill Trump

A Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) contractor has been charged after allegedly threatening to kill former U.S. President Donald Trump and using a government computer to research details linked to the alleged plot.

According to U.S. federal prosecutors, the suspect, identified as Dean DelleChiaie, allegedly sent a threatening email to the White House and later attempted to conceal evidence by asking that his internet search history be deleted.

Investigators said the suspect used his FAA work computer to search for information related to previous assassination attempts on Trump, methods of carrying weapons into federal buildings, and details about senior government officials.

The case was flagged after FAA information technology personnel noticed suspicious activity and reported it to authorities, prompting an investigation by the United States Secret Service.

Prosecutors have charged the suspect with interstate communication of threats, a federal offense that carries a possible prison sentence of up to five years if convicted.

The case adds to growing concerns over threats against public officials in the United States, as authorities continue to stress zero tolerance for politically motivated violence.
