Police Arrest Two Over Armed Robbery, Cultism in Abia, Recover Firearms
Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested two suspects in connection with alleged armed robbery, cultism, and pipeline vandalism in Abia State.
The suspects were apprehended during a coordinated intelligence-led operation by the command as part of efforts to tackle violent crime and criminal activities across the state.
According to police authorities, items recovered from the suspects include one English-made pistol, one locally fabricated pistol, and a toy gun believed to have been used to intimidate victims during operations.
The police said preliminary investigations linked the suspects to cult-related activities and acts of vandalism targeting oil pipelines and other critical infrastructure in the state.
Spokesperson of the command, DSP Maureen Chinaka, said the arrests underscore the command’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents.
She added that the suspects remain in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police in the state reaffirmed the command’s resolve to sustain intelligence-driven operations against criminal elements and urged members of the public to continue providing useful information to security agencies to aid crime-fighting efforts.
