Nigeria’s Terra Industries Unveils Homegrown Autonomous Defence Systems in Abuja

Nigerian defence technology startup Terra Industries has unveiled a new range of locally developed autonomous defence systems, marking a significant step in Nigeria’s push to strengthen indigenous military technology capabilities.

The unveiling, held in Abuja on Monday, showcased advanced defence innovations including interceptor drones, mine-clearing unmanned ground vehicles, and AI-powered surveillance intelligence systems designed to support military operations in conflict zones.

The demonstration attracted top-ranking military officers and government representatives, highlighting growing collaboration between the private technology sector and the Nigerian Armed Forces in addressing evolving security challenges.

According to reports, the new systems are designed to improve battlefield intelligence, detect and neutralize explosive threats, and strengthen rapid-response capabilities in anti-insurgency operations, particularly in regions affected by terrorism and armed banditry.

The event also marked Terra Industries’ transition from commercial infrastructure protection and industrial surveillance into direct military applications, a move analysts say could boost Nigeria’s defence self-reliance and reduce dependence on foreign military hardware.
