NSCDC Deploys 720 Personnel to Ensure Safe Easter Celebrations in Gombe State

Gombe, April 2, 2026 – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gombe State Command, has deployed 720 personnel across the state to ensure a peaceful and secure Easter celebration.

Commandant Jibrin Idris, who announced the deployment via Operational Order No. 4/2026, stated that the move aligns with directives from the Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, calling for enhanced security during festive periods.

The personnel, drawn from various departments and specialized units including the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Agro Rangers, Anti-Vandal Squad, Disaster Management Unit, Intelligence Department, and the Female Armed Squad, have been strategically positioned at worship centres, recreation spots, motor parks, markets, highways, and other public areas expected to host large gatherings.

Commandant Idris further emphasized that the deployment extends to the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) such as electricity installations, water facilities, railway lines, communication masts, and oil pipelines, aiming to prevent vandalism and other criminal activities during the holiday period.

He assured residents of the Corps’ commitment to collaborate with other security agencies to guarantee a crime-free Easter and instructed deployed personnel to maintain professionalism, firmness, and respect for the fundamental human rights of citizens.

The Commandant also called on Christians to pray for peace, unity, and stability during the season, and appealed to the public to stay security-conscious, avoid overcrowded areas, and report any suspicious activity to the nearest security agency.
