Governor Inuwa Approves Upgrade of Gombe Emir’s Palace, Facilities for 13 LCDAs

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has presided over the 8th meeting of the Joint Project Development Council, with the meeting approving the upgrade of the palace of the Emir of Gombe as well as additional facilities for the smooth takeoff of the state’s 13 newly established Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

The meeting, held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, was the first Joint Project Development Council meeting following the establishment of the 13 LCDAs and focused on reviewing ongoing projects and addressing emerging infrastructure needs across the state.

The Director-General of the Joint Project Development and Essential Services Agency (JPDESA), Bldr. Mahmoud Yusuf, PhD, disclosed the decisions reached at the meeting.

One of the major approvals was the upgrade of the palace of the Emir of Gombe, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, CFR.

According to the JPDESA Director-General, the intervention is aimed at improving the appearance, functionality and general environment of the palace while providing facilities considered befitting of the traditional institution.

He said the decision also reflects the state government’s recognition of the important role traditional institutions play in maintaining peace, promoting unity, strengthening community engagement and supporting development initiatives.

The council also approved additional infrastructure for the newly constructed LCDAs to enable them to commence effective operations.

Although physical structures have already been provided for the new councils, the government approved additional facilities considered necessary for their functionality and security.

The approved facilities include solar power systems, solar-powered boreholes and surveillance systems, among other essential installations.

Bldr. Mahmoud Yusuf explained that the solar power systems would provide a more reliable source of electricity for administrative activities, while solar-powered boreholes would provide sustainable water supply for staff and other basic needs.

He added that surveillance systems would enhance security around the council facilities, protect public assets and provide a safer environment for workers and members of the public who will access government services at the new LCDAs.

The meeting also reviewed the progress of ongoing development projects across Gombe State and considered further interventions aimed at sustaining the administration’s pace of infrastructure development.

The 8th Joint Project Development Council meeting is part of the state government’s efforts to coordinate project planning and implementation while ensuring that emerging development needs are incorporated into its infrastructure agenda.
