Gombe Police Engage Stakeholders on Electoral Security and Road Safety

Gombe, April 1, 2026 – As part of activities marking National Police Day 2026, the Gombe State Police Command successfully hosted a Stakeholders’ Sensitisation Forum aimed at addressing electoral violence, ballot snatching, and promoting safe driving practices across the state.

The forum was chaired by CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, mnips, fwc, mspsp, PSC(+), Commissioner of Police, alongside members of the Command’s management team, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Heads of Departments, and officers across various ranks.

In his welcome address, CP Chuso emphasized the need for strong collaboration between security agencies, community leaders, and the public to ensure peaceful elections and improve road safety. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive policing and community partnership.

Participants included representatives from NSCDC, FRSC, DSS, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), as well as civil society leaders, market associations, transport unions, and student bodies, including PCRC, NURTW, RTEAN, and NANS.

Goodwill messages were delivered by Comrade Garba Ubale, Chairman of PCRC Gombe State, and Alhaji Ibrahim (Ibrahim 3000), Chairman of the Association of Gombe Civil Society Organisations, who lauded the initiative and called for continuous public education and engagement with key stakeholders.

The sensitisation lectures were presented by DCC N. O. Akueme and ACP Suur Chafa, Area Commander of Gombe Metropolis, highlighting the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and fostering peaceful electoral conduct.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by DCP Mustapha Muhammad Bashir, expressing gratitude to all participants for their active role in promoting lawfulness, public safety, and peace in Gombe State.
