Gombe NNPP Chairman Resigns in Dramatic Exit

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Gombe State has been thrown into a leadership crisis following the resignation of its State Chairman, Kabir Makko.

Makko formally stepped down from his role and relinquished his membership in the party on Sunday. His resignation, which takes effect on March 23, 2026, was contained in a letter addressed to the NNPP Ward Chairman in Akko.

In the letter obtained by Orbit News 24, Makko stated that his exit from the position also signifies his withdrawal from the party entirely.

“Today, being March 23, 2026, I hereby officially resign as a member of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Gombe State chapter,” the letter read.

He added, “By this resignation, I also relinquish my position as the Gombe State Party Chairman. This decision has been made after careful political consideration.”

While Makko did not disclose his next political move, he expressed gratitude to members and stakeholders for their support during his tenure as state chairman. Copies of the resignation letter were also sent to the party’s National Chairman.

Efforts to reach the NNPP state secretariat for comments on the leadership vacuum were unsuccessful as of press time.
