Gombe Govt Partners Blumen Technologies on ₦1.2bn Waste Recycling Initiative

The Gombe State Government has signed a ₦1.2 billion Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Blumen Technologies Ltd to launch a waste-to-wealth initiative aimed at transforming plastic and organic waste into valuable economic products.

The agreement, signed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement, will see the operationalization of a plastics recycling and injection molding facility established under the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project.

The facility, located at one of Gombe State’s designated dump sites, is expected to convert plastic waste into reusable plastic products while processing organic waste into fertilizer, supporting the state’s drive toward a circular economy and environmental sustainability.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mohammed Bello Abubakar Kumo said the partnership would provide the technical expertise needed to fully operationalize the facility and maximize its economic and environmental benefits.

The 15-year agreement is part of the administration of Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s strategy to strengthen sustainable economic development through private sector collaboration.

Government officials said operations are expected to begin within the next three months, with projections for job creation, improved environmental protection, enhanced agricultural productivity, and broader economic growth.

The MoU was signed on behalf of the state government by Mohammed Bello Abubakar Kumo and Sani Adamu Jauro, while Blumen Technologies was represented by its Managing Director, Yunusa M. Garba, and Director, Fu’ad Ahmad Maqary.

The partnership was facilitated by Gombe State Investment Promotion Agency as part of the state’s broader effort to attract strategic investments aligned with its sustainability agenda.
