Ex-Councillor Nabbed as NDLEA Busts Drug Traffickers Across Nigeria

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a former councillor in Ibeju-Lekki, Sheleru Olalekan, after recovering 40kg of skunk from his residence in Lagos State.

According to the NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, the suspect admitted ownership of the drugs.

The agency also carried out several other operations across the country, arresting suspects and seizing narcotics in the Federal Capital Territory, Kogi State, Niger State, Adamawa State, Kano State, Ogun State, Delta State and Edo State.

Among the seizures were thousands of tramadol pills, methamphetamine, codeine syrup, Colorado cannabis and other drugs, while officers also destroyed over 1.9 tonnes of skunk farms in Edo State.

NDLEA Chairman, Mohamed Buba Marwa, commended the agency’s officers for the arrests and urged them to sustain the fight against drug trafficking and abuse nationwide.
