Dr. Habu Dahiru Hands Over as Gombe Health Ministry Transitions After Cabinet Dissolution

The Commissioner for Health in Gombe State, Dr. Habu Dahiru, has formally handed over the affairs of the Ministry of Health to the Permanent Secretary following the recent dissolution of the State Executive Council by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya on Wednesday.

The handing-over ceremony, which took place at the ministry’s headquarters, was attended by top health officials, directors, and staff of the ministry. The event marked the end of Dr. Habu Dahiru's tenure as commissioner, a period widely regarded as one focused on strengthening healthcare delivery and improving public health outcomes across the state.

Speaking during the ceremony, Dr. Habu Dahiru expressed deep appreciation to the Governor for the confidence reposed in him to lead the health sector. He described his time in office as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the wellbeing of the people, particularly in areas such as disease prevention, maternal and child health, and healthcare system strengthening. He also commended the dedication and cooperation of the ministry’s workforce.

Reflecting on his achievements, the outgoing commissioner noted that significant progress was made in expanding access to quality healthcare services, improving primary healthcare centers, and enhancing emergency response to health challenges. He emphasized that these milestones were achieved through collective effort and commitment from stakeholders within the health sector.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry Alhaji Yan Biyu Buba, commended Dr. Habu Dahiru for his leadership and contributions, describing him as a committed public servant who prioritized the health needs of the people. He assured that the administrative structure of the ministry would continue to ensure stability and continuity in ongoing health programs and policies.

In their Goodwill messages some key stakeholders in the health sector, including the Executive Secretary of Go-Health, the Executive Secretary of the Primary Health Care Development Agency, the Executive Secretary of Gombe State Drugs and Medical Supplies Agency (GODMA), and the Executive Secretary of the State Hospital Management Board. They all praised the outgoing commissioner for his impactful leadership and dedication to improving healthcare services in the state.
