Court Dismisses Suit Against ADC, Atiku Calls for Opposition Unity

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has reacted to the dismissal of a lawsuit seeking the deregistration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the court’s decision as a victory for democracy and the opposition.

In a statement posted on his official account on X (Twitter), Atiku revealed that he had been briefed about the ruling of the Federal High Court of Nigeria in Abuja, which dismissed the case filed by what he described as “anti-democratic elements” allegedly working with the ruling party to weaken opposition forces.

According to him, the case was aimed at having the ADC deregistered, a move he said would have effectively ended what he called the opposition’s last stronghold.

Atiku noted that the court’s ruling represents a major victory for democratic principles and the rule of law in Nigeria.

“Today’s victory at the court demonstrates what we can accomplish when we unite,” he stated.

The former presidential candidate further encouraged Nigerians and supporters of the opposition to remain committed and participate actively in strengthening democratic institutions.

He also called on citizens across the country to register on the newly opened platform associated with the coalition, urging supporters to mobilize and work together toward building a stronger opposition movement.

The development comes amid growing political realignments and discussions around opposition cooperation ahead of future electoral contests in Nigeria.
