COAS Deploys Additional Troops to Plateau to Curb Rising Tensions

Jos, Plateau State – April 2, 2026

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, NAM, has ordered the immediate deployment of over 850 additional troops to Plateau State in response to escalating tensions in parts of the state. The reinforcements are part of ongoing security operations under Operation ENDURING PEACE.

Addressing troops at the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force in Jos, the COAS urged personnel to maintain professionalism, discipline, and firmness in tackling criminal elements threatening the peace and safety of residents. He emphasized that adequate logistics and combat support have been provided to ensure the troops can execute their mission effectively.

The newly deployed soldiers, drawn from formations in Abuja and Kaduna, are tasked with protecting lives and property, while restoring law and order in affected communities across the state.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding citizens and curbing criminal activities that have heightened insecurity in Plateau.
