Yahaya delivered campaign promises in Gombe – Funakaye council boss

The Chairman of Funakaye local government area, Hon Shuaibu Abdulrahman Adam, has commended the Gombe state governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for his sustained commitments to development and inclusive governance across the state.

In a statement on Wednesday, Hon Adam highlighted the governor’s achievements in human capital development, agriculture and livestock farming, irrigations and education.

Other areas, according to the council chairman, included healthcare delivery, security, and infrastructure, good trunk B and C roads including the creation of 13 development area councils, alongside the existing 11 local government areas.

The Funakaye council boss praised the renovation and construction of ultra-modern government secretariat, solar lightings and that of Funakaye as well as the expansion of quality township roads with street solar lights and inter-community roads in Sangaru, Jalungo, Wakkaltu Magaba Feshingo and Bajoga with feeders roads across several councils. 

He noted that these projects had significantly improved service delivery and enhanced grassroots administration.

On the construction of ultra modern markets and shops in Bajoga,

Hon Adam applauded the governor for the building of a guest house in Funakaye, the constructions of befitting office accommodations for the staff with solar lights in the offices and conference hall.

He also applauded the governor’s proactive approach to security, citing the construction of police stations, joint security tasks force with Nafada, Kwami and Funakaye, support for security agencies and local vigilante groups, regular security assessments and the provision and maintenance of operational vehicles. 

He urged residents to continue promoting peaceful coexistence and collective responsibility.

In the health sector, he commended the Gombe state administration for training medical professionals and health workers, upgrading healthcare facilities, and constructing a modern hospital in Funakaye alongside several primary healthcare centres and dispensaries.

He also hailed the employment of 28 trained health workers, recruitment of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members and supporting heath workers with motorcycle across the council across the state, aimed at improving access to quality healthcare services.

On agriculture, Adam encouraged farmers and herders to leverage the state government’s agricultural and livestock initiatives, including the distribution of farm inputs, provision of grazing areas, and veterinary services and irrigation farming.

He described Funakaye as a key agricultural hub in the North-East and stressed the importance of harmonious farmer-herder relations& urged lake Chad basin to construction Earth Dam to boost irrigation farming in the area.

The council chair urged the Gombe state education trust fund to support his council with educational aids & materials.

The council chair further praised youth empowerment initiatives, including entrepreneurship and skills acquisition programmes, the construction and the establishment of the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Hub, which he said would boost economic growth and job creation for the youths.

Adam described Governor Yahaya as a visionary leader whose performance earned him the chairmanship of the North-East Governors’ Forum and the Northern Governors’ Forum.

He also commended the governor in addressing regional insecurity and promoting collaborative security funding initiatives.
