Call Grows for Gov. Inuwa Yahaya to Contest Gombe North Senatorial Seat in 2027
A growing call has emerged urging the Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, to contest for the Gombe North Senatorial seat in the 2027 general election, with supporters saying his leadership experience is greatly needed at the National Assembly.
Advocates of the move argue that Governor Yahaya’s political experience and performance in office have positioned him as a strong candidate capable of providing effective representation for the people of Gombe North Senatorial District.
They noted that his role as Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum has further strengthened his leadership profile, giving him broader experience in addressing regional and national issues affecting Northern Nigeria.
According to supporters, after careful consideration of the current leadership representing the district at the Senate, there is a strong belief that Governor Yahaya’s experience, vision, and administrative competence would bring greater value to the senatorial district.
Governor Yahaya has been widely commended for his performance since assuming office in 2019. Observers point to major reforms and development initiatives introduced during his first tenure and sustained in his second term.
His administration has particularly been praised for transformative reforms in the education sector, improvements in healthcare delivery, and significant investments in infrastructure development across the state.
Supporters believe that taking his experience to the Senate would help amplify the voice of Gombe North and attract more development opportunities to the district.
While the governor has not officially declared his intention to run for the Senate in 2027, many political observers believe that growing support from constituents could play a key role in shaping the political landscape ahead of the next general election.
