Tinubu Swears In Tegbe, Enikanolaiye as Ministers

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday swore in Mr. Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of Power and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The brief ceremony was witnessed by family members of the new ministers, senior government officials, and other dignitaries.

The appointments followed the resignation of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, who left office to pursue political ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections.

Tegbe, an accomplished economic reform expert and stakeholder engagement specialist from Oyo State, takes charge of the power sector at a time when the government is seeking to improve electricity generation, transmission, and distribution across the country.

With more than three decades of experience in both public and private sectors, Tegbe previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa. He has also worked closely with several government agencies and multinational companies on policy reforms and development initiatives.

Speaking after taking the oath of office, Tegbe pledged to support the administration’s efforts to strengthen the nation's power infrastructure and enhance access to reliable electricity for Nigerians.

Also sworn in was Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, a veteran diplomat and former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Enikanolaiye, who hails from Kogi State, served Nigeria in several diplomatic missions, including Ethiopia, Serbia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and India. Before his appointment, he was Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations.

His appointment is expected to reinforce Nigeria’s diplomatic engagements and advance the country's foreign policy objectives.

The Senate had confirmed both nominees in May following their nomination by President Tinubu.

The swearing-in marks another step in the President’s efforts to reposition key sectors of government and strengthen service delivery through experienced leadership.
