Tinubu Reshuffles Cabinet, Replaces Finance and Housing Ministers

Abuja, Nigeria - 21 April, 2026

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle affecting key positions in the Federal Executive Council (FEC), with changes announced on Tuesday.

According to a statement from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, two ministers—Wale Edun and Ahmed Musa Dangiwa—have been directed to step down from their roles.

Edun, who served as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, has been replaced by Taiwo Oyedele, who now assumes the position. Oyedele previously held the role of Minister of State in the same ministry.

In the Housing and Urban Development Ministry, Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named as minister-designate, pending confirmation. Meanwhile, Dangiwa has been instructed to hand over to the Minister of State in the ministry.

The directive mandates that all handover processes be completed on or before April 23, 2026.

Akume explained that the reshuffle is part of efforts to strengthen coordination within government and improve economic performance under the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He added that the President exercised his constitutional powers in making the changes.

President Tinubu also commended the outgoing ministers for their service and wished them success in their future endeavors, while assuring that efforts to reposition the cabinet for effective governance will continue.

The statement was signed by Yomi Odunuga, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
