Tinubu Orders Security Chiefs to Maiduguri as Boko Haram Attacks Escalate

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the immediate deployment of security chiefs to Maiduguri following renewed attacks by Boko Haram in parts of Borno State.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the president said the directive forms part of broader efforts to stabilise the situation after coordinated assaults in the state capital left casualties and heightened fear among residents.

“Additionally, I have directed security chiefs to move to Maiduguri to take charge of the situation. I have also directed the emergency agencies to provide proper care for the injured,” Tinubu stated.

The president expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives, extending condolences to affected families and sympathies to those injured in the attacks.

He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s solidarity with the people of Borno State, describing the incidents as “desperate and frantic attempts” by террорист groups facing sustained military pressure.

Tinubu also commended the efforts of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies for successfully repelling coordinated assaults on military formations, noting that their “courage and fighting spirit” helped prevent further escalation.

According to him, additional military equipment and operational support approved at a recent high-level security meeting are already being deployed to strengthen ongoing counter-insurgency operations.

Reiterating his administration’s resolve, the president declared that no part of Nigeria would be allowed to serve as a safe haven for criminal elements.

“We will locate them, confront them, and completely defeat them,” he said.

Security presence has since been reinforced across Maiduguri, while emergency responders continue to provide medical assistance to victims and assess the situation. Authorities have urged residents to remain calm but vigilant as operations continue.
