Tinubu Approves ₦1.25 Trillion for Yobe-Gombe Dual Carriageway Project

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the sum of ₦1.25 trillion for the construction of the Yobe-to-Gombe section of a 125-kilometre dual carriageway, marking a major infrastructure boost for Nigeria’s North-East region.

The approval was granted during the meeting of the Federal Executive Council in Abuja as part of the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure across the country.

Minister of Works David Umahi said the project is aimed at enhancing connectivity between Yobe State and Gombe State, reducing travel time, and improving the movement of goods and passengers.

According to Umahi, the road project is expected to strengthen economic activities in the North-East by linking major agricultural and commercial centres, while also improving road safety for commuters.

The development is part of President Tinubu’s broader infrastructure agenda under the Renewed Hope programme, which prioritises the rehabilitation and expansion of critical federal highways nationwide.

Residents and stakeholders in the region have welcomed the approval, describing it as a significant step toward economic growth, improved transportation, and job creation.
