Potiskum Emirate Appoints Alhaji Umar Yusuf as New District Head of Ngojin
The Potiskum Emirate in Yobe State has announced the appointment of the state Commissioner for Religious Affairs and Public Enlightenment, Umar Yusuf, as the new Hakimin Ngojin (District Head of Ngojin).
The appointment was confirmed by the Emir of Potiskum, Umar Bubaram Ibn Wuriwa Bauya, who said the decision followed consultations with members of the Emirate Council and other key stakeholders within the traditional institution.
According to the Emir, the appointment reflects the emirate’s confidence in the leadership ability, integrity, and experience of Alhaji Umar Yusuf, who has served the state in various capacities, including his current role as Commissioner for Religious Affairs and Public Enlightenment.
Palace sources noted that his selection was influenced by his longstanding contributions to public service and his efforts in promoting religious harmony, peace, and moral guidance among communities in the state.
The Emir further explained that the position of Hakimin Ngojin carries significant responsibility within the traditional administrative structure of the Potiskum Emirate. The district head is expected to serve as a link between the traditional authority and the people while ensuring peace, justice, and unity across the district.
He added that the new district head will also work to support development initiatives within the district in collaboration with the emirate council and the government of Yobe State.
Residents and community leaders in Ngojin have welcomed the appointment, describing Alhaji Umar Yusuf as a leader known for his humility, dedication, and commitment to community development. Many expressed optimism that his leadership will strengthen unity and bring further progress to the district.
Observers say his experience in public administration and close working relationship with community leaders could help strengthen cooperation between traditional institutions and government authorities at the grassroots level.
As he assumes the new role, Alhaji Umar Yusuf is expected to work closely with village heads, community leaders, youth groups, and religious scholars in addressing community challenges and promoting peace and social harmony.
The Potiskum Emirate Council congratulated the new district head and prayed for wisdom and guidance as he takes up the traditional responsibility.
