Niger’s Military Leader Addresses National Security, Stability

The President of Niger’s ruling military body, the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP), Abdourahamane Tiani, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening national security and restoring stability across the country amid ongoing regional challenges.

General Tiani made the remarks during a high-level meeting with government officials and security stakeholders, where he emphasized the importance of unity, discipline, and national cooperation in safeguarding the sovereignty of Niger.

The military leader stated that the authorities remain focused on protecting the country from both internal and external threats while working toward long-term political and economic stability.

According to him, the government is determined to reinforce the nation’s defense institutions and ensure that the armed forces remain capable of responding effectively to security concerns affecting communities across Niger. He stressed that the safety and protection of citizens remain a top priority for the administration.

General Tiani also called on citizens to remain patient and supportive as the transitional government continues implementing policies aimed at rebuilding public institutions and strengthening governance structures.

He added that collaboration between the military, civil authorities, and the general public will be essential in achieving lasting peace and sustainable development.

Observers note that the leadership of the CNSP has continued to attract attention across the West African region, particularly as Niger navigates complex political and security dynamics following recent developments in the country’s governance.
