Nangere/Potiskum Youths Urge Dr. Dauda Atiyeyi to Contest for House of Representatives
Youths from the Nangere and Potiskum Federal Constituency in Yobe State have called on Dr. Dauda Muhammad Atiyeyi, the Dan Galadiman Fika and District Head of Jigawa, to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing the constituency in the forthcoming elections.
The call was made in a statement issued on Thursday by the Nangere/Potiskum Youth Forum, under the leadership of Dr. Yunus Isma’il, Special Assistant on Information and Communication to the Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Science and Technical Schools Board.
The youths described Dr. Atiyeyi as a credible and competent leader with a proven record of public service, noting that his experience and dedication make him well suited to represent the people of Nangere and Potiskum at the National Assembly.
They also appealed to the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to support and encourage Dr. Atiyeyi to step forward for the service of the constituency.
According to the forum, Dr. Atiyeyi comes from a respected family with a long history of leadership and public service. He is the son of the late Alhaji Muhammadu Atiyeyi, former Sarkin Potiskum, who was widely recognized as a prominent political figure during the era of the old Borno State.
The youths noted that Dr. Atiyeyi’s personal qualities reflect the legacy of his father, describing him as a leader known for integrity, humility, and dedication to the welfare of his people. They added that his modern educational background, combined with sound Islamic scholarship, places him in a strong position to address contemporary leadership challenges.
The forum further emphasized that Dr. Atiyeyi’s emergence as a candidate would foster unity within the constituency by discouraging ethnic and sectional politics. They described him as a unifying figure capable of promoting inclusive leadership and equitable development across Nangere and Potiskum communities.
They also highlighted his respect for elders, commitment to accountability, and concern for the needs of ordinary citizens as qualities that have earned him admiration among both youths and community leaders.
The group expressed confidence that, if elected, Dr. Atiyeyi would attract meaningful development projects to the constituency, strengthen youth empowerment programmes, improve educational infrastructure, and contribute to addressing key socio-economic challenges affecting the area.
The statement concluded with a call on political stakeholders, traditional leaders, and residents of Nangere and Potiskum to rally behind Dr. Atiyeyi in the interest of unity, progress, and effective representation at the national level.
