IGP Disu Reaffirms Commitment to Police Capacity Building at PMF Training Graduation

Abuja, Nigeria - 22 April, 2026

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has reiterated his commitment to strengthening the operational capacity and welfare of officers in the Nigeria Police Force, as he presided over the closing ceremony of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadron Commanders’ Training Programme in Nasarawa State.

The event, held on April 22, 2026, at the PMF Training College in Ende-Hills, forms part of ongoing efforts by the police leadership to enhance professionalism, leadership skills, and tactical efficiency within the Force.

During his visit, the IGP inspected critical training facilities, including the simulation ground and shooting range, where he actively participated in tactical drills. His involvement, according to police authorities, was aimed at demonstrating leadership by example while underscoring the importance of continuous, scenario-based training in modern policing.

Addressing cadets of the Nigeria Police Academy currently undergoing training at the institution, Disu urged them to remain disciplined, focused, and resilient throughout their programme. He stressed that adherence to professionalism and respect for human rights would play a crucial role in shaping their effectiveness in the field.

Speaking at the ceremony, the police chief commended the graduating Squadron Commanders for successfully completing the intensive training, urging them to apply the knowledge gained to improve leadership standards and operational performance within their respective units.

He further emphasized the strategic role of the Police Mobile Force as a vital tactical unit, noting the need for it to remain disciplined, responsive, and dependable in addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.

The IGP also assured officers of continued efforts to improve their welfare and provide adequate equipment to enhance operational readiness across the country.
