Gombe South APC Stakeholders Oppose Ali Isa JC’s Reps Ticket Bid, Petition Tinubu

Political tension is mounting within the All Progressives Congress in Gombe South following strong opposition to the reported House of Representatives ambition of Hon. Ali Isa JC, a recent defector from the Peoples Democratic Party.

A coalition of concerned party members and stakeholders from Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency has petitioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to prevent what they described as “political opportunism” within the ruling party.

The petition follows the recent defection of Hon. Ali Isa JC, who until his exit from the PDP served as Minority Whip in the House of Representatives. The group argued that his sudden move into the APC, barely ahead of preparations for the 2027 elections, raises questions over his political intentions and loyalty to the party’s structure.

The stakeholders alleged that the lawmaker had begun lobbying for an automatic APC ticket to contest again for the Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency seat in 2027, a move they described as unfair to long-standing party members who have remained committed to building the APC in Gombe South.

They also expressed concern over alleged backing from influential political figures, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, warning that such support could undermine internal democracy and due process within the party.

The petitioners called on President Tinubu, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, and the APC national leadership to protect the party’s integrity and ensure fairness in the selection of candidates.

According to them, rewarding last-minute defections with party tickets could discourage loyal members and create dangerous precedents that weaken party discipline.

The political crisis follows growing reports of internal disagreements in the constituency over Ali Isa JC’s possible bid under the APC platform, with some aspirants insisting that only loyal and committed members should fly the party’s flag in the next election.
