Christian Leaders Join Muslims at Kaduna Eid Ground, Call for Peace and Unity

A delegation of Christian clerics led by Pastor Dr. Yohanna Buru joined Muslim faithful at the Eid praying ground in Kaduna on Wednesday in a renewed show of interfaith harmony and peaceful coexistence.

The Christian delegation attended the Eid prayers held at Murtala Mohammed Square with the aim of strengthening religious tolerance, unity, and mutual understanding among Nigerians.

Speaking shortly after the Eid prayers, Pastor Buru said the visit was part of efforts to build stronger relationships between Christians and Muslims across Northern Nigeria.

“We are here to wish you Barka da Sallah and to strengthen good relationships,” he said.

The cleric urged Nigerians to embrace peace, love, and unity for the progress of the nation, noting that Nigeria can only achieve its full potential when citizens work together regardless of religious differences.

Pastor Buru congratulated Muslims on the successful celebration of Eid-el-Kabir and also extended greetings to the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, alongside other prominent Islamic leaders across the country.

According to him, the visit by the pastors was aimed at promoting unity and peaceful coexistence, adding that this marked the fifth consecutive year his team had participated in Eid celebrations as part of their commitment to peacebuilding.

Addressing thousands of worshippers gathered at the Eid ground, Pastor Buru said Sallah celebrations offer an opportunity for Christians and Muslims to interact, build friendships, and strengthen national unity.

Among dignitaries present at the Eid prayers was former Kaduna State Governor, Ramalan Yero, alongside politicians, Islamic scholars, traditional leaders, women, and children.

“We must remember that we are one family under God, worshipping the same Creator. Both the Qur’an and the Bible are holy books sent by one God,” Pastor Buru stated while calling on Nigerians to set aside their differences and work together for a united and prosperous nation.

Also speaking, Pastor Rawland Sanda said the Christian delegation attended the Eid celebration to promote peace, religious tolerance, and mutual understanding.

“This is not the first time we are visiting the mosque with a team of pastors to strengthen relationships with Muslim clerics and promote peace and religious harmony,” he said.

Other Christian leaders, including John, Moses, and Madam Grace, also emphasized the importance of cooperation and understanding among different religious groups.

In his remarks, the Chief Imam of the Central Mosque, Sheikh Habib Umar Mahmood, appreciated Pastor Buru and his team for their continued support and commitment to peacebuilding.

“You are truly unique, and may God bless you abundantly,” the Chief Imam said while urging Nigerians to continue praying for peace and unity in the country.

Similarly, Mallam Sunusi Surajo commended Kaduna State for promoting religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence, praying for similar unity across Nigeria.

He also called on the Federal Government to consider Pastor Buru for a national honour in recognition of his contributions toward promoting peace, unity, and interreligious harmony in the country.
