Shekarau’s Return Boosts APC Strength in Kano — Gov. Yusuf

Governor Abba Yusuf has welcomed former Kano State governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, into the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing his return as a significant boost to the party’s strength in the state.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday in Kano by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad.

According to Yusuf, arrangements are underway in consultation with the party’s national secretariat to fix a date for the formal reception of Shekarau into the APC fold.

He noted that the party in Kano continues to witness growing support and consolidation, positioning itself as a dominant political force ahead of future elections.

The governor expressed confidence that the APC remains well-prepared to secure victory in upcoming polls, attributing the party’s optimism to increasing unity and strategic political alignments.

Yusuf also assured party members and supporters of the leadership’s commitment to strengthening internal cohesion while expanding its grassroots base across the state.

He called on party faithful to remain steadfast and intensify mobilisation efforts as the party gears up for future political contests.

Shekarau, a two-term former governor, had earlier announced his decision to join the APC while addressing supporters at his Mundubawa residence in Kano. He said the move followed extensive consultations with his political associates and careful consideration of available options.
